Sorry for the detour ------>

So this is the new blog page for our family and I'm happy that I changed it. Happy for my idea for the other blog and happy to change the name of our family blog. Because Adam is still very much a part of this family. He was my best friend. He is the father of my sons. And I learned so many good things from him. Like enthusiasm, dependability, hard work, being on time, acceptance of others, how to be a friend, expressing and showing love every day, and how to laugh. The other day, Elijah, our 6 1/2 year old, asked me if I had one wish, what would it be. I told him my wish would be to have his dad back. And I mean it. I miss him. It has been 7 years since he passed away. One half of the time that I was married to him. Where did the time go???

BTW.....if anyone can tell me how to post a picture with each written post, I would appreciate it.

What's New?

Hey Everyone! This is new for me but I enjoy other people's blogs so much, that I thought I'd try my own. Wish me luck...

Life has been interesting this last year and I'm looking forward to this new year with great enthusiasm. As most of you know, I was married last March. Unfortunately, that did NOT work out and we were divorced just before Christmas. Bad timing, I know. Lose one husband right after Christmas, lose another right before. I still love Christmas though, don't worry.

Anyway, I am feeling like I just lost 100 pounds, actually about 150...lol! It feels great! All the things that I've put off doing for so many years, I am looking at with new eyes. When I was married to Lane, I felt like I would never have the opportunity to do them. He was very needy and controlling. (and that is the only bad thing I will say about him) I am in control of my life and my time again. Just what am I going to do with it?

Well, to start with, we took a trip to Gridley, California to visit Alex and Jessica after Christmas. We have missed them so much. We left the 27th and came back the 3rd. It was a great trip! We stayed with Jessica's parents and they were very kind and gracious hosts. Alex and Jess had to work quite a bit, but we enjoyed what time we could with them. Chance even went to work with Alex a couple of times. Alex is working for his father-in-law. He drives a truck and delivers Mission products (as in chips and tortillas) to stores and restaurants in the area. It is hard work and he is learning a lot from Ernie, who is a successful businessman. Jess is going to school and working at a casino. They are renting a cute little house near her parents and have a cute little dog, named Chico. He is half wiener dog, half chihuahua. He was scared of Elijah at first but eventually Elijah won him over.

When we weren't able to spend time with them, we found other things to do. Gridley is about an hour north of Sacramento and so we went to see the Sacramento temple, went to the zoo, and walked through Old Sacramento. On New Years Eve, we went roller skating and bowling. It was great fun to see Elijah skate for the first time. But mostly we watched TV and relaxed, which was very good for me after the stressful divorce I had just been through.

Just to let you all know, Blade has been out a year on his mission to Baltimore, Maryland as of December 9. That year flew by fast. I've included a picture of the apron we made him for Christmas. It was so great to be able to talk to him on Christmas day. He is very happy and is serving with great love and enthusiasm. He is in inner city Baltimore at the moment, and my sister JoDee asked if he needed a bullet proof vest for Christmas. Apparently, Baltimore is like Cincinnati was for Alex. Any kind of missionary or pastor is treated with respect, even by the gangsters. That is a great relief for a mom.

So that is what is new with us.

Happy New Year!
Elise
